Oops, my fault! I have a modified version of getopt in my PYTHONPATH
which allows putting options after required parameters. I am using this
for years already -so i almost forgot about it- but your "python ?"
let ring my bell - thanks for the hint!

If i find the time i will look up what mercurial actually does to make
it behave this way in combination with my modded getopt.
I never experienced this with other python programs so maybe this is
actually "_two_ hacks colliding" ;-)
