make install-home error on source install of mercurial 1.0

I am doing a source install of mercurial 1.0 on solaris 5.10 and following
the instructions on the mercurial(selenic) site and on the make install I
get this error:

....
copying templates/raw/filediff.tmpl -> //lib/python/mercurial/templates/raw
copying templates/raw/error.tmpl -> //lib/python/mercurial/templates/raw
copying templates/raw/fileannotate.tmpl ->
//lib/python/mercurial/templates/raw
cd doc && make  PREFIX="/" install
for i in  ; do 
sh: syntax error at line 1: `;' unexpected
*** Error code 2
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `install'
Current working directory /work2/mercurial-1.0/doc
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `install-home-doc'

Its like the Makefile has a problem inserting into the man pages.???

Any ideas??
