If I enter "\\?\C:\Documents and Settings\adi\Desktop\tmp" in the address bar
of explorer on my Windows XP SP3, I get an error box with the title "Address Bar"
that contains the following text:

"Windows cannot find '\\?\C:\Documents and Settings\adi\Desktop\tmp'. Check the
spelling and try again, or try searching for the item by clicking the Start
button and click Search."

(side note: C:\Documents and Settings\adi\Desktop\tmp is an existing directory)

What version of Windows are you using?
