Encoding inconsistencies

only now saw your post on coding inconsistencies.

I started some threads during the past days on this issue, but still haven't a clue how to teach Hg on a Windows console as well TortoiseHg to correctly transfer data to my server. I experimented with setting cp1252 via "chcp" on the console before adding a new file containing an umlaut in its name... but all to no avail.

There was another response to my post telling me that Thg obviously ran out of the box with umlauts.

I don't know what I am doing wrong here...

Do you also use Thg 4.0RC2 at your site?

Perhaps I should downgrade and try an older version?

Any hint welcome.
