understanding strip

So, I notice that hg strip will strip changesets across branches if a merge
occured. So, you can erase a branch and its subsequent merge. 

Personally, I'm only interested in erasing branches, but not the merge. Is
this possible? Maybe by qimporting the changesets on the branch and rebasing
them on the current branch? Is that possible?
