CVS Conversion to Hg

These are the commands that I execute:

mkdir ~/work2
cd ~/work2
cvs checkout src
cvs checkout res
cvs checkout build
mkdir ~/work
hg init .
hg convert ~/work2/src src
hg convert ~/work2/res res
hg convert ~/work2/build build

the result is that src,res and build are separate hg respositories with 
all of the history.

if I try


mkdir ~/work2
cd ~/work2
cvs checkout src
cvs checkout res
cvs checkout build
mkdir ~/work
hg init .
hg convert ~/work2 .

the result is:

destination . is a Mercurial repository
scanning source...
sorting...
converting...
0
No username found, using 'paulfranz at paul-franz-laptop.local' instead
