No problem, that's the case since the missing revision file was part  
of an external tool which never changed in my repo. So the hack worked  
great:

% hg verify
checking changesets
checking manifests
crosschecking files in changesets and manifests
checking files
858 files, 586 changesets, 3144 total revisions
