FWIW, several of us in the Open MPI project use a "blended" SVN+HG
approach for local branching quite successfully (I don't recall the
exact page, but we got the idea from one of the wiki pages on the main
Mercurial site). We started doing this before hgsubversion existed;
there did not seem to be any other convenient way to be able to "fork"
from SVN, work in HG for a while, and the push changes back up to SVN.
