Did you try that patch I emailed you?  It won't fix the problem, but
it should improve the error message.

It'll slow down your first conversion after deleting the cache, since
hg will have to reread all the cvs log output.  But sometimes starting
from scratch helps.  (I don't think it will here, but you never know.)

Really?  Using what CVSROOT?  You need to checkout a new working copy
from the local repo using a local CVSROOT for 'hg convert' to actually
use the local repo.  (This aspect cvs-to-hg conversion is really
awkward.)

Darn.  It was a good theory while it lasted.  I think my patch to
improve the error message is our best bet for now.
