It's worth noting that the hg book was originally written in LaTeX.

For some reason, I have a feeling you may have trouble getting your 
colleagues to use Mercurial if they're unwilling to learn LaTeX (or XML, 
for that matter). I collaborate with many colleagues who *do* know LaTeX 
but refuse to learn how to use a DVCS (well, any RCS really...).
