Why are you not saving Apple Scripts in plain text format instead of
script one which is a compiled format?

The AppleScript Editor provided by Apple is not only an editor but
also a wrapper around the osacompile command.
Therefore, when you save a script in the AppleScript Editor, it is
automagically compiled by default.
