Ah, ok, it makes sense now! The problem is that being a distributed system if
you wanted to do operations based on the time when the changes are made
you'd have to have a way of synchronizing the distributed clocks.

And I understand that the way to avoid undeterministic branch tips is to
have only one head on any given branch.
