Did you use svnsync to make a local copy of the SVN repo?  This is 
pretty much a "must do" when converting a google code repository - the 
connection seems to mess up in the middle of it and produce a lot of 
strange errors.

If I remember correctly, I kept running svnsync repeatedly until the 
entire history was copied locally. Then I used the convert tool.
