I do not have a direct answer to what you want to do, but I can offer
the following suggestion: For hard to select diffs, it is sometimes more
productive to make a copy of your changed version outside Mercurial,
then shelve everything, then manually cope the changes you want to
commit from your copy outside Mercurial.
