The correct setting is

[paths]
default = https://kalthad@bitbucket.org/kalthad/repo


Be care full with the prefix.
[auth]
repo.prefix = https://bitbucket.org/kalthad/repo
repo.username = kalthad
repo.password = mysecretpasswd


NOT

[paths]
default = https://kalthad@bitbucket.org/kalthad/repo
